Haikintana Astronomy Association is a Malagasy non-profit organization dedicated to promoting astronomy and space science. Founded in 2015, we're one of the country's pioneers in popularizing astronomy. Our mission is to inspire, educate, and empower the community through astronomical exploration.

Our key activities 


Observatory Establishment:

 

Haikintana played a pivotal role in establishing the Besely Astronomical Observatory, the first of its kind in Madagascar with the Société Astronomique de France, Ecoles du Monde Madagascar, Uranoscope de l'Île de France, Astromecca, African Initiative for Planetary and Space Sciences and the University of Paris Saclay.

Educational Programs and Community Outreach:

 

The association offers a variety of educational programs, including workshops, lectures, and stargazing events, to inspire and engage people of all ages. Haikintana actively participates in community outreach activities to share its passion for astronomy and encourage scientific inquiry. The association also organizes international celebrations like Asteroid Day, On the Moon Again, World Space Week, etc.

National and international Collaboration:

 

Haikintana collaborates with national and  international organizations and institutions to advance astronomy research and development in Madagascar.



Advocacy:

 

The association is a strong advocate for the development of astronomy and space science in the country, working to raise awareness and secure funding for related initiatives.
